As part of the Pistoia Magic Festival in Pistoia in early September, a novel, just published by Porto Seguro, Florentine publishing house, written by four hands Giovanni Maestrini and Michele Simonetti “The Man of the Year".
An original reading that takes place in the Puccini Gatteschi courtyard-garden, under the walls of the historic and homonymous city palace, in Pistoia.
The authors are long-time friends and colleagues and confess to the public that they had the idea for the book almost together. Michele thought of the subject, the story, and immediately spoke to his friend who immediately took action. They come from completely different backgrounds, studies far from being writers, yet the desire to tell this story took them so much that it pushed them to make it.
Giovanni Maestrini immediately had the idea of the ending in his mind and communicated it to Michele who was very surprised, in truth, but it was also the decisive signal. From that moment everything began.
The two authors laugh and joke among themselves, accusing each other of having 'infected' each other.
The story was imagined and written as if it were a film. A story that speaks of television 'magic', in fact the main subject is a television format. Set in an indefinite time, it actually winks at the future by introducing futuristic technological tools.
The readings flow and in the meantime the story makes space for itself, allowing itself to be glimpsed by the public. There are various characters, human lives hanging and lonely, melancholic influencers, commentators, a manipulative presenter... in short, a real media circus. The protagonist above all is an ordinary person, Marco Bianchi, who immerses himself in the reality of the format 'Man of the Year' determined to unmask the system and destroy it. He is a man withered by society, a society that hates and wants to change at all costs.
Introducing the young and emerging authors we can say that Michael Simonetti, is the main creator of the context on which the narration is grafted and which he took care of for the development of the plot; he has an economic education, with a work history that has seen him engaged in various sectors and that currently sees him operating in luxury hotels. Among his passions we find that for cinema, from which not only entertainment but also inspiration.
Giovanni Maestrini he wrote the direction of Michele but he is also co-creator of the characters and their psychological development; he has an artistic background and also works in the world of luxury hotels. It is here that he met Michele and it is in the work environment that their friendship was born. He has always been a great lover of literature.
