Maurizio Costanzo, famous quotes

“I miss everything about Giorgio Gaber. In particular, since he started to feel ill, I miss his great irony. […] I have always appreciated his being a solitary walker, someone who was out of the ordinary. Someone who didn't need to belong to feel alive”.

“We were part of a group, Enrico, Italo Terzoli, Marcello Marchesi and I. We had many ideas to work on. At the base of everything there was a great fun, which was not only knowing how to laugh at things, but knowing how to filter them with irony”.

“It's paradoxical but animals are light years ahead of us when it comes to emotional relationships.
Humans are much more boring than animals. An animal's reaction is never as predictable as a human's."

“The strategy of indifference is part of the cat's indolence. After all, it is said: indifference hurts more. The cat has taken this saying literally, in fact, when faced with a dog that growls and shows its teeth in cases of hostility, the cat looks at you with contempt and goes away. As if to say 'I don't even waste myself'”.

“One evening we went to a restaurant that seemed discreet, but was actually very popular. There were Gaber, Paolo Villaggio, Enzo Jannacci, Umberto Simonetta, myself and someone else. A couple of tables nearby, other customers began to chat, pointing at us, trying to find a way to start a conversation. Gaber suddenly turned around and said to them harshly: 'We don't want to make common cause!'. An official defense, but necessary nonetheless”.
